Glutathione is the most important low molecular weight antioxidant synthesized in cells. This free radical scavenger protects our DNA, cellular lipids and proteins from oxidative stress.

Liposomal glutathione is in reduced form (GSH). Only the reduced form has an antioxidant effect and helps remove free radicals. Due to the structure and composition of the antioxidant, GSH exhibits low bioavailability and can also be destroyed in the gastrointestinal tract. Ingestion of liposomes has been proven to be an effective means of delivery and protection against degradation. GSH plays a critical role in protecting cells from oxidative damage and toxicity and in maintaining the body's redox balance. Normal blood levels of GSH are directly related to physical health.
