Necklace-brooch "Klimt. Waiting" Dedication to the great artist Gustav Klimt.
The history of this masterpiece is connected with the name of Adolf Stokwe, who in 1904 decided to build his mansion in Brussels. At that time it was fashionable to paint on and inside buildings, so the Viennese industrialist invited several artists, including Gustav Klimt, offering them a contract. Adolf Stokwe was fond of Japanese art, so Klimt decided to paint an appropriate painting that would complement the overall design of the mansion. As a result, the famous “Tree of Life” appeared, consisting of three elements: “Expectation”, “Tree of Life” and “Pleasure”.
The name carries symbolic meaning and makes you think about many things.
The dancing girl under the Tree of Knowledge, according to the author, personifies Waiting. This state was characterized by the artist’s female images, which replaced the femme fatales. Perhaps Gustav Klimt was trying to depict the biblical tree of the mind or the family tree of all humanity. The branches of a tree can be considered a symbol of infinity as they meet and intertwine with each other, creating a labyrinth of leaves and unusual patterns. A large number of triangles, squares and ovals will seem to some only geometric shapes. But this is not true. Among the Japanese, these symbols are considered masculine and feminine. And, according to Europeans, perhaps the artist was inspired to create such an unusual painting by the great Freud.
