Production information

Pirkenhammer uses the finest Zettlitzer kaolin to produce the porcelain mass, which is re-slurried in its own slurry factories before it is processed. Quartz and feldspar, the other components of porcelain, come from the best mines in Bohemia and Scandinavia.

History

The history of the Pirkenhammer porcelain factory, founded in 1803 by Friedrich Hoecke, began with humble beginnings. After Hoecke initially leased the company, it was acquired in 1811 by Johann Martin Fischer and Christof Reichenbach, who successfully developed it further. Under the leadership of Fischer and Reichenbach, the factory experienced rapid expansion and was granted state factory authority in 1822. The factory received numerous awards for its quality and creativity, including the gold medal at the Vienna Trade Exhibition in 1839.

The porcelain manufacturer received numerous awards at foreign world exhibitions:
- Paris 1855: Medal 11th class,
- Paris 1867: Silver medal,
- Paris 1878: Gold Medal,
- Paris 1900: Golden Hors concours medal,
- Rio de Janeiro 1922: Grand prix
- Paris 1925: Honorary diploma.

In 1918 the factory was integrated into the "Epiag" group and, despite the challenges, successfully survived the post-war years. Today, the Pirkenhammer factory continues its tradition by producing high-quality porcelain products and building on its 125-year history.
