"BATTLE CROSS OF THE UKRAINIAN SICH RIFLEMEN"
The Combat Cross of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen or the Mazepa Cross is an award for the combat merits of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen (USR), who fought in the Ukrainian Galician Army, designed by Lev Lepkyi. This award is included in the historical list of military awards of the Ukrainian armed forces. The central element of the award was a shield with the image of a trident attached to a stylized cross in the form of the coat of arms "Kurch", which belonged to Hetman Ivan Mazepa. Behind the shield were two crossed swords, signifying the armed struggle for Ukraine's independence. The cross is attached to a black ribbon with two purple paths on the sides.
