Saint Margarita was one of the forty ascetics and students of Deacon Ammoun with origin from Adrianople, Thrace. At that time, in 305 AD, the Roman emperor Licinius had issued a decree to exterminate the Christians who refused to worship idols. The Saint lived and martyred in this terrible time together with her sisters and their teacher Ammun. These women did not succumb to the challenges of the tyrant Licinius and as as a result they was tortured horrifically.
This fabulous icon has been created with the technique of lithography and has a double varnish to ensure waterproof and duration in time. The creator of this icon has learned the canonization of iconography in workshops of the Monasteries of Moscow Region, where he was taught both the technique of lithography and the process of handmade artificial ageing
