Originally intended to be a Frank Capra film starring Cary Grant and Elizabeth Taylor, this delightful comedy went through the hands of George Stevens before landing in the lap of William Wyler. Other actresses considered included Jean Simmons and Suzanne Cloutier. However, a legendary screen test secured the part for newcomer Audrey Hepburn in her first starring role. Professionally restored, this lovely French grande no longer displays fold separations, some chipping at the edges and folds.
