Axes all are of good quality. It is not recommended to cut into a material such as metal or stone. Not to use it for leaping or as a throwing knife because the Damascus Steel and Carbon steel are not stainless steel. Unless dried after dishing it will rust. So you must use some oil to preserve it. Treat the blade with linseed oil or oil for maintenance weapons. We do not recommend exposure to extreme temperatures.  Do not treat the blade or leather of the handle and sheath with products containing water.  The leather can be treated from time to time with a natural balm for leather products with beeswax. Sharpening of the knife can be done with carborundum sanders or diamond sanders.

How to prevent from rust?

1. Coat the blade in light oil (such as WD-40 or olive oil). Oiling a Damascus Steel Blade can give it a rich luster that does justice to its natural, gorgeous pattern. 2. Do not store in leather sheath long term (longer than a month). It can result in blade staining due to the absorbent nature of leather. 3. If stored in leather. It is recommended you prep the blade, wrap it in plastic wrap then insert the knife in the sheath. 4. Please avoid using the dishwasher for any of the Damascus blades.
