Skill level: upper beginner (the Crochet Pattern doesn't contain lessons on crocheting). Skills required: basic crocheting skills (crocheting in spiral, magic ring, single crochet stitch, double crochet stitch, increasing and decreasing), bacic sewing skills.
Size of the egg: About 12 cm/ 5 inch tall, I used a yarn of ~109 yd/ 100 m= 1,8 oz/ 50 g and a 3 mm crochet hook.
