Today it is not so easy to buy good quality fuel. Even the quality of fuel for cars leaves much to be desired, as often fuel contains various impurities, which eventually adversely affect the condition of the car. The high (or not so high) quality of gasoline is traditionally indicated by the octane number - a characteristic that determines how resistant this type of fuel is to detonation, i.e. spontaneous combustion inside the engine. The higher the octane rating, the more likely it is that the fuel will not explode inside the internal combustion engine. Currently, the lowest octane rating is 70-75 and the highest is 95-100.
