Milk proteins: Milk proteins offer important moisturizing and nourishing properties: Their moisturizing ability is a result of their excellent absorption, as well as their ability to ‘bind’ water. These characteristics promote the formation of a hygroscopic film on the stratum corneum of the skin. At the same time, milk proteins release specific amino acids, which are important components of the skin’s normal moisturizing factor [NMF]. They are valuable nutrients, as, like few protein sources, milk proteins provide more than 40% of essential amino acids.

These amino acids cannot be synthesized by human cells. However, they contribute significantly to the maintenance of normal metabolic activity of cells, as they participate in the synthesis of collagen, elastin and keratin. Finally, milk proteins have remarkable compatibility with the skin. They are considered to be compounds that mimic the action of the normal components of the skin and, in addition, are very easily biodegradable, therefore perfectly tolerated by the skin.
