- "The Iron Fist" was an M60A1 Patton tank that served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. It was assigned to the 3rd Tank Platoon, 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Armored Division. "The Iron Fist" saw combat in Vietnam from 1968 to 1973. It spent a total of 15 months in the war zone. During that time, the tank participated in numerous engagements with North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces. According to crew members, "The Iron Fist" was a very reliable and effective tank in combat. It was never knocked out or destroyed, although it was frequently under enemy fire.
