The item is an “Iced Crown” Hat Knitting pattern for adult medium size head. It`s an unique hat design with cabled crown. This ribbed hat uses 245 yards of aran yarn only. Perfect for beginners who wants to start knitting cables.

The beanie with fold over brim is worked bottom up, you start working in the ribbing 2 x 2 and then in a cable stitch pattern to the crown. It’s a great accessory for late fall or winter. Slouchy shaped.

NOTES: 

  • The hat is seamless and worked in the round.
  • Skill Level: Advanced-beginner, Intermediate.
  • The pattern includes both written instructions and charts.
  • This pattern is available in English.
  • Skills: basic knitting skills (knit, purl, cables…), working in the round, reading charts or working with written instructions.

SIZE:

M – middle teen/adult size, head circumference 22-23’’ (56-58 cm).

The total height of the hat is 13.8’’ (35 cm) after blocking.

Yarn:

You will need 100-125 gr of Aran weight yarn. It’s not necessary to use only natural fibre yarn for this project. You can also use blends (wool blends, alpaca blends, etc.). Final yardage: 245.0 yds (224.0 m).

Needles:

  • 16’’ (40 cm) US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle and a set of double pointed needles for small circumference at crown.
  • Check your gauge and adjust needle size(s) accordingly if necessary.

Gauge:

  • 18.5 sts x 28 rows = 4 x 4’’ (10×10 cm) worked in Stockinette st with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles after blocking.
  • 29 sts x 28 rows = 4 x 4’’ (10×10 cm) worked in Rib 2×2 with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles in the rounds.

Notions: stitch markers, cable needles, row counter (optional),  tapestry needle or crochet hook for weaving in the ends.
