A delicate flower is knitted based on a photo of a living snowdrop flower and it turns out to be quite realistic.
When working with knitting needles with a diameter of 1.5 mm, a flower is obtained about 9.5 cm in height in the position as in the photo. This is a great size for a delicate brooch, but if you want even less, you can work with thinner knitting needles.

Materials and tools:

  1. Yarn and knitting needles.

To work, you need 2 colors of yarn of the same thickness - white and green.

In my work I use pure wool yarn, I like that the finished product has thin small fibers (“Rasskazovsky Angorka”, about 300 m in 100 gr).

For knitting, 1.5 mm knitting needles are used (a set of double pointed needles or knitting needles with a cable), matched to the thickness of the yarn so that the knitting is quite dense. But since the flower does not require stuffing, it is not necessary to knit as tightly as toys for stuffing - you can be a little looser. When choosing yarn, please note: acrylic is almost always more voluminous than wool, so the thickness of the acrylic thread in a skein of 300 m in 100 g will be noticeably larger!

  1. A needle for assembling and decorating, in the eye of which a knitting thread passes.
  2. A small piece of polypropylene twine for the frame in the stem (household cord, washcloths are crocheted from a similar artificial fiber). Such a twine will be enough for a brooch, and for an interior bouquet it is better to use a wire instead of a twine (diameter about 0.8 mm).
  3. Materials for tinting the flower: I use a dry pastel in two shades of green, a small brush to apply it.
  4. To fix the tinting, you will need a solution of acrylic varnish (lacquer is diluted in a ratio of approximately 1 to 5-6 with water, applied with a brush). You can replace it with PVA glue, but in this case, the tinting will be fixed less securely.

The same solution will be needed to impregnate the leaves and petals in order to fix their shape and prevent flat parts from twisting.

  1. If your flower will be a brooch, choose the right fastening method. For example, a narrow vertical clasp can be hidden under a leaf, and a stem can be laid and sewn on a leaf.

Together with this pattern, you get a separate file with a detailed description of all the abbreviations and techniques that I use in knitting.
