About this item

Florensky P. A. Sacred renaming. Changing names as an external sign of changes in religious consciousness. Moscow: Publishing House of the Church of the Holy Martyr Tatiana, 2006. – p. 360.

100 years have passed since P. A. Florensky wrote this work, and now he has finally waited for publication. From a formal point of view, this work is a combination of two term papers written by P. A. Florensky during his studies at the Moscow Theological Academy in the 2nd and 3rd courses. The head of the work was Professor Archimandrite Joseph (Petrov), later known as the founder of the "Josephite" schism. The work was evaluated by Archimandrite Joseph at 5+ with the following note: "I cannot improve the assessment, and therefore I limit myself to gratitude to the highly talented, highly learned author, who is such a gratifying synthesis of talent and diligence." However, P. A. Florensky himself considered its too large volume to be a disadvantage of the work.
