Black civet musk is an extract of the sexual glands of palm civet. The secretions were extracted from the gland in a painless way, eliminating injury to the gland itself in particular and to the animal as a whole. Civet is bred on farms in Somalia. The appearance of this animal resembles a cat, but with a very long tail, since its habitat is trees. The civet clings to the branches with its tail. This animal is also known under the name luvak. Civet is the main assistant in the production of the most expensive Kopi Luwak coffee. This animal eats coffee beans, which, passing through the gastric tract, are processed with the gastric juice of civet, acquiring the aroma of nuts, nougat, honey and an animal shade.
