This handmade wooden tissue box cover is decorated using mixed media and covered with several layers of encaustic medium
Encaustic medium is a mixture of pure natural beeswax and resin from the Damar tree.
The Encaustic is an ancient art form that combines beeswax, damar resin and pigments to create a beautiful layered look with translucency and light reflection.
The surface may appear uneven, have bubbles, bumps and holes. These imperfections are normal and a result of the use of a torch flame used to fuse all the layers of wax together.
The translucent quality of the wax creates depth and the surface can be buffed to a glossy shine.
Note:
Since this tissue box is coated with a wax medium, please observe the following guidelines:
Do not place the product near heating appliances or in direct sunlight, the wax may start to melt.
Do not wipe the product with solvents and detergents, gold leaf may darken or rub off.
Do not scratch the surface with sharp objects or nails.
Wipe the surface with a dry, soft towel. When rubbed intensively with a soft towel or cloth, the surface acquires a shine and the characteristic glassy effect of encaustics.
Do this periodically and you will have all the beauty of encaustics.
