FED-3, vintage Soviet rangefinder camera
 35 mm, 8608768, M39 (LTM) mount
"FED" plant, Kharkiv, USSR

Very good condition. Shutter works properly in the range 1/30-1/500 and B; in the range 1/15-1 sec shutter fires with approx. 1/30; if the shutter speed knob is pushed hard when setting the shutter speed, all the range is available. The other (rangefinder, self-timer) works properly. Body has very small signs of age. Lens is not included, body only.

History of the camera
This camera was produced since 1961 till 1979 at "FED" plant. Totally 2 086 825 cameras were made. Comparing with previous model "FED-2" new shutter speeds were added: 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 second. The vertical size of the camera increased (110 mm instead of 90 mm).

All cameras had self-timer. Body was of cast aluminium with removable rear cover. Camera had a synchrocontact "X" with only possible shutter speed 1/30 s.

Shutter is cloth, curtains move horizontally. Possible shutter speeds are: 1/500, 1/250, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 second and B.

Camera has a cold shoe and a tripod socket 1/4".
Camera had 2 variants:
-early, produced since 1961 till 1965, with barrel shutter cocking;
-late, produced since 1966 till 1979, with cock shutter cocking (camera offered).

In 1970 a mechanism of shutter block was introduced if shutter is recessed not fully.

Rangefinder base is 43 mm (decreased from 50,25 mm at "FED-2"). Viewfinder has a dioptric adjustment mechanism (+/- 2 dioptre).

Default lens is "Industar-26m" (2.8/50), "Industar-61" (2.8/52) or "Industar-61 L/D" (2.8/55). Of course, all lenses with M39 (LTM) mount fit this lens.

SInce 1964 till 1980 simultaneously "FED-4" with built-in light-meter was produced.

In 1977 was replaced with "FED-5". When exported abroad camera could have a name "Revue-3".
