FSL (free standing lace) is not stitched onto fabric, but rather onto a water-soluble stabilizer, which when washed away leaves behind a lovely lace piece. Or you can use Organza to embroidery such lace jewelry.

Be sure to use a low bobbin with same thread to match the upper thread.
