Killing for Country by David Marr

This is a very hard book to read. I had to take it very slowly lest the truly terrible story overwhelm me. It must also have been a shockingly difficult book to write. Readers should make sure to read the acknowledgements where, with Marr’s usual courtesy and graciousness, some of his difficulty becomes clear. Marr pays appropriate tribute there to some of the leading historians who have travelled this journey before him.
