Natural propolis has been known to mankind since time immemorial. This bee product is widely used for medical purposes. Propolis was used as an anti-inflammatory, anti-infective and wound healing (scarring) agent.
  In folk medicine, products based on natural propolis are used in the treatment of:
• oral cavity, gums, teeth;
•diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
• diseases of the upper respiratory tract and lungs;
• otitis (inflammation of the ear);
• wounds, burns, frostbite;
• injuries and burns of the eyes;
• gynecological diseases;
• urological diseases.
• atherosclerosis;
  Natural propolis is a sticky substance that bees collect from the spring buds of trees and modify with their enzymes. In the hive, bees use it as a disinfectant and repair and construction material. More than 200 compounds have been identified in propolis.
To perform the protective function of propolis, it is the multiplicity that ensures a joint effective action is considered important. On average, propolis consists of 50% resinous components (flavonoids, aromatic acids and their esters), 30% wax (fatty acids, alcohols and their esters), 10% essential and aromatic oils, 5% pollen (free amino acids and proteins) and 5% other substances (minerals, ketones, lactones, quinones, steroids, vitamins and sugars).
Propolis contains vitamins such as: B1, B2, B6, A, C, E, H, P, and almost all the trace elements necessary for a person: magnesium, potassium, sodium, iron, zinc, manganese, copper, cobalt, phosphorus , sulfur, antimony, aluminum, chromium, selenium, silicon, strontium, titanium, vanadium, tin, fluorine.
Propolis contains amino acids such as: alanine, beta-alanine, alpha-aminobutyric acid, arginine, asparagine, aspartic acid, valine, hydroxyproline, histidine, glycine, glutamic acid, isoleucine, lysine, leucine, methionine, ornithine, pyroglutamic acid, proline, sarcosine, serine, tyrosine, threonine, tryptophan, phenylalanine, cystine and cysteine. Many of the above amino acids are essential for humans.
The biological properties of propolis are explained, first of all, by the presence of significant amounts of phenolic compounds: flavonoids and phenolic acids.
Phenolic acids: ferulic, coffee, benzoic, cinnamon, exhibit antibacterial, antifungal (against yeast), antiprotozoal (against parasites), astringent properties, they also have choleretic, diuretic, vasoconstrictive, anti-inflammatory effects. The flavonoid complex is characterized by the presence of apigenin, acacetin, kaempferol, kaempferide, ermanin, rhamnocitrin, isorhamnetin, rhamnasine, which exhibit antimicrobial, wound healing, and antioxidant effects.

Natural propolis acts as:
- antiseptic (bactericidal, antiviral and antifungal),
- regenerating,
- wound healing
- anti-inflammatory,
- anesthetic,
- vasoconstrictor,
- immunostimulating,
- antitoxic,
- an antioxidant agent.
