Some history :
 
KR580 was one of the most widespread microprocessor sets in Soviet Union in the end of 1980s. 
A lot of computers had been created on the base of KR580: 
personal ("Magik" , "Irisha" , "Mikrosha" etc.), 
general purpose ("SM-180x" , "ES7970" , "Electronika-K1" , 
"Iskra-226" , "Radio-86RK" etc.), school ("Korvet" ).

Monocrystal microprocessor KR580IK80 is the basis of the set,  
it has 16-bit address bus and 8-bit data bus, as Intel 8080/8085 and Zilog Z80 processors, 
and is compatible with them by command set and machine code. 
Thus, any software written for 8080 can be run on KR580IK80
Furthermore, KR580IK80 has 40-pin package identical to 8080 and can be used in 8080 mainboards 
(Earlier version of the processor - K580IK80  - has 48 pins and is not compatible with 8080). 
A model of this microprocessor called KR580IK80A  
(later renamed to KR580VM80A ) is analogical to 8080A processor.
 
KR580 series includes a large number of chips that allow simple connection of 
different devices and maintain effective data exchange between computer parts:

On the base of KR580 microprocessor set, Soviet engeneers designed "Korvet" computer, 
intended for teaching pupils Basic programming language. 
The story of it's creation was told above. In addition to school software there was a text processor "Supertext"  
(Final Word analog) and a russian version of dBase. 
Soon, a learning computer complex "Korvet" was built on the base of this computer. 
The complex had been widely used in schools and colleges all around the former USSR territory until probably year 1998-2000.

Soviet Union developed localized russian versions of CP/M-80 for KR580IK80 processors - OS-1800 
(used in SM-180x computers) and MicroDOS. 
Also, a software pack was written that contained a debugger, a screen text editor, 
a macroassembler, PL/M and Fortran compilers, Basic interpreter, object modules, support programs, and other service software.
