The teaspoon holder is hand carved out of willow wood using hand tools: a hand saw, an ax and a pair of knives. To make the stand look antique, it was tinted with charcoal.  The surface of the willow spoon rest is perfectly polished, this eliminates the raising of the pile when wet, it is well washed. To protect against moisture, the spoon holder is oiled several times with linseed oil and a special composition of linseed oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax.
