I am simply dumbfounded by the artistic accomplishments of the two birchbark containers I purchased. The works are both beautifully and sturdily constructed. They have the dual properties of delicate aesthetic appointments using the bark in an ornamental fashion, and are secured in a manner that allows tough, solid utilitarian use for holding a large variety of items in diverse ways. These Russian creations surpass any birchbark containers that I have been able to find in the Western world. I was especially amazed to see how objects of pure aesthetic joy could be mailed out of Russia in the middle of a war! I am very grateful to Mr Aleksey Isaevskiy for his skill in fashioning these wonderful and beautiful items for me.
