FED 4 USSR 35 mm vintage rangefinder body M39 mount medium type B
Quantity
FED-4, vintage Soviet rangefinder camera
medium type (Type B)
35 mm, #6820369, M39 (LTM) mount
"FED" plant, Kharkiv, USSR
Good condition. Shutter always fires properly at 1/60 sec and shorter, at longer speeds curtains move very lazy. Self-timer, dioptric adjustment and rangefinder work properly. Exposure meter does not work. Body has small signs of age. Lens is not included, body only. Take-up spool is included.
History of the camera
This is a version of "FED-3" camera. Both cameras were produced at Kharkiv Mechanical Plant "FED" (Kharkiv, Ukraine, USSR) simultaneously. The difference is that "FED-4" has a built-in nonenveloping selenium light meter and changed mechanism of film rewind. "FED-4" was produced in 1964-1980. Total 633.096 pieces were made. When exported abroad it had name "Revue-4". Camera was changed with "FED-5" family.
Body is metal with removeable rear cover.
Viewfinder had dioptric adjustment (+/- 2 dioptre) and base 41 mm. It has flash synchronisation "X" and self-timer.
Default lens is "Industar-61 L/D", 2.8/55. Of course, all lenses with M39 (LTM) mount fit this lens.
Tripod socket is 3/8".
Shutter has speeds: 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500 and B. Shutter is cloth, curtains move horizontally.
There were two versions of "FED-4": with barrel shutter lead up (early) and cock shutter lead up (late). I offer here late version.
Camera had two types of name on the front (here I offer early variant).
