Liposomes are microscopic spheres up to 200 nm in size, the shell of which consists of phospholipids, the main structural component of cell membranes. Due to their structure, liposomes are biocompatible with the lipid layers of membranes and easily fuse with cells, which ensures targeted delivery of biologically active components contained inside liposomes directly to their destination.
