Russian Romeo and Juliet. The story of a young couple whose love conquered death.
The love story of Peter and Fevronia, Saints of the Russian Orthodox Church and patron saints of the family, is anything but ordinary. She doesn't even have the classic beginning, which is inherent in the stories. Instead, their relationship is intertwined with unusual twists that are more reminiscent of a drama, and almost everyone who has heard it claims that it is one of the most beautiful love stories in Russian history.

The murder of the fire dragon and the fate of Peter and Fevronia

Legend has it that one day Prince Peter of Murom saw a fiery dragon who, turning into a man, courted the wife of his brother, Paul. Wanting to get in the way of this, Peter jumped on him and killed him with a single stroke of his hand. At that moment, however, the Dragon's blood spilled over Peter's body, and this is where his troubles began.

Peter was treated for an unknown disease for a long time and unsuccessfully. At the urging of his friends, he decides to turn to Fevronia for help, who everyone believed would cure him. Peter was willing to pay whatever she wanted, but Fevronia had a different condition - that he marry her as soon as he got on his feet.

Very soon the prince began to recover and, having only fully recovered, decided to withdraw his promise. As for spite, the disease that Fevronia had cured began to return, and Peter - to lose the ground under his feet again. Realizing that he was wrong not to keep his promise, the Prince nevertheless decides to marry the girl who helped him.

But the story doesn't end there. On the contrary, it is just beginning. After the death of Prince Paul, Peter was supposed to stand on the throne of Murom, but the local nobility refuses to accept the fact that the future princess is an ordinary girl from the country. Peter is presented with the ultimatum of life: either he leaves Fevronia and becomes ruler, or he leaves Murom.

Taught by previous experience, Peter chooses to stay by his wife's side and they leave the city together. After their departure, Murom becomes the battlefield of the bolyars who begin to wage war on each other for supremacy. The fighting does not subside for months, and the nobles decide that Peter, for a higher purpose, must still be given a chance.

Soon the Prince returns to Murom together with Fevronia, and there peace ensues. The two of them, by their dedication and doing good, show that trust was justified, and the nobility and the people slowly realize that the judgment that had previously been made regarding the couple was utterly wrong.
