By UNESCO's decision in 2001, the entire cultural world celebrated the bicentennial anniversary of Vladimir Ivanovich Dahl, a Russian writer, ethnographer, and historian.

This edition reproduces a significant part of Dahl's most famous work - the "Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language", on which the thinker worked for almost half a century.
