Icon of the Mother of God "The Deliverer" with the Holy Apostle Simon Kananite and the Great Martyr and healer Panteleimon against the background of the New Athos Simon-Kananite Monastery
The icon of the Mother of God "The Deliverer" was kept on Holy Mount Athos by the monk Martinianus (+ 1884), a resident of the Russian Panteleimon Monastery, until July 20, 1889, when it was brought to the New Athos Simon-Cananite Monastery in the Caucasus. The pious schemer received this icon from the great ascetic, Hieromonk Theodulus.

The holy icon has been famous for miracles since ancient times. By praying in front of this icon in 1841, the inhabitants of Sparta (in Greece) got rid of locusts.

According to the will of Archimandrite Makarii, this icon was transferred from the Panteleimon Monastery to the New Athos Monastery. When the celebration in honor of this icon was held for the first time in the Simon-Cananite monastery, a storm washed up more than a ton of fish on the shore near the monastery.

The celebration of the icon "Deliverer" was established on October 17 in grateful remembrance of the miraculous rescue of Emperor Alexander III with his whole family during a railway crash under the Borki station of the Kursk-Kharkov-Azov road. Less than a month before this incident, on September 24, 1888, the entire family of the Emperor visited the New Athos Monastery, where Alexander III personally laid the cathedral in the name of the Holy Great Martyr and healer Panteleimon. In this cathedral, until the ruin of the monastery in 1924, there was a miraculous icon of the Mother of God "The Deliverer".

This icon is a high-resolution lithography print on hardboard, embellished with light-reflecting gold and silve foil.
