The word "angel" means a messenger, "one who brings news." The word "malachim" (prophets), which is used in the first book of the Old Testament part of the Bible, was translated into Greek as angeloi (lat. angeli), and at the same time it was first interpreted as the personification of God's commands, and later it came to mean members of the heavenly host, which belong to the City of God.
Angels as "messengers of God" are often mentioned in Scripture; and the belief in their existence is deeply rooted in the Christian tradition, where this word means spiritual beings, personalities who are more perfect than man and inform people of God's will and embody His commands on earth. Angels are beings created by God before the creation of the visible world. They are spiritual and incorporeal, or perhaps have some ethereal body; if they acquire a visible image, it is only their temporary form, and not a permanent existence. For angels, our spatial conditions do not exist, but they are not omnipresent. They are more perfect than even the first man, but limited in their perfection: despite the speed and depth of understanding, they are not omnipresent; despite their purity and holiness, they can be tempted. They were created free, and therefore could freely establish themselves in good, like bright angels, or fall like evil spirits. They stand before the Lord, do His will; glorify Him unceasingly and enjoy grace.
Angels are symbols of harbingers of the sacred, who accompany us and help when necessary. According to all traditions, each person has a guardian angel who sees to it that the person moves forward on the path of their own spiritual realization. All religions claim that God never leaves humanity to fend for itself and provides each person with a guardian angel so that we can hear His voice, both secret whispers and commanding commands that can lead us to awakening consciousness.
