The vintage dress pattern for Madame Alexander dolls is very easy to use. The doll clothes pattern fits some other 8" tall dolls with a similar build. The doll dress pattern is designed using a sewing machine and an overlocker, but you can sew a dress without using this technique.

It contains a text description on 6 pages with photos + 1 page drawing of a dress. For such small dolls, I use a thin dress fabric made from natural material.
