The deep-sea red alga Lithothamnion grows in clear waters off the coast of Iceland. Throughout her life, she accumulates minerals from sea water. Approximately every 5 years, its tips calcify and fall off, huddling on the seabed into white hills.
These calcified pieces of algae are a unique source of macro- and microelements. The maximum amount - 35% - is calcium, 2.2% magnesium and 72 more trace elements are presented in small quantities: phosphorus, iron, iodine, copper, potassium, sodium, selenium, zinc and others (1). The ratio of minerals in sea water is identical to their ratio in blood plasma. Therefore, the product obtained from the Lithothamnion seaweed is as easily and completely absorbed by our body as possible.
