Smena-Symbol, film scale-focus camera
with stationary Triplet T-43 lens,  #79078320, 35 mm
Leningrad Optical Mechanical Unity (LOMO), Leningrad, USSR

Most likely for parts. Everything works properly except the rear cover which is not fixed in closed position (see the photo). Lens is clear and does not have any scratches or fungus. Inside there is a bit microdust. Shutter works fully properly. Body has signs of age and use.

This USSR scale-focus camera was made by LOMO in 1971-91. It is based on "Smena-8m", but the release button on the top was replaced with key next to the lens, roulette for backwind and hot shoe appeared, shutter recess was united with rewind.

Thus the height of the camera increased. Both "Smena-Symbol" and "Smena-8m" were produced simultaneously.
"Scale-focused" means that you set the distance with the symbol scale "portrait - group portrait - scenery" (though it has marking in meters). The viewfinder is used to value the frames of future photo, not for the focusing.

Camera has a central shutter after the lens. Possible shutter speeds are 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250 and B. Shutter speed can be set with a switch or with weather symbol (from "rainy" till "sunny").

Camera has a non-removable lens T-43, 4/40 with multi-layered antireflection coating.
Body is plastic with rear cover on hinges. Take-up spool became non-removable.
Camera has a hot shoe and tripod socket 1/4";.
Camera has an automatic frame-counter which goes to zero when rear cover is opened.

"Smena-19" and "Smena-20" were made on the base of "Smena Symbol".
When exported abroad camera had its original name or "Cosmic Symbol" or "Panorama".
BeLOMO produced in 1974-85 similar camera named "Vilia".

Its price in USSR was only 25 Soviet Roubles (with average salary about 120 Soviet Roubles), so everyone could afford it.
