The magical and bewitching ammonite spiral leaves no one indifferent!
I suggest you link this amazing character.

You will receive a very detailed PDF file with many photos and links to videos of knitting techniques used, as well as an additional file with a detailed analysis of all conventions and techniques.

Materials and tools:

  1. Yarn and knitting needles.

For knitting tentacles, I recommend using a crochet hook (so they will be more elegant). But the pattern also provides a variant for the knitting needles.

To work, you will need a set of double-pointed needles or knitting needles with a cable for knitting round.

I used needles with a diameter of 2,5 mm. You can use a different needle diameter - the size of the ammonite will depend on this. Choose the thickness of the thread so that the knitting is tight for subsequent stuffing.

Take the hook for the thickness of the yarn (in my case - 2.25 mm). Even if you plan to knit the tentacles with needles, you may need a hook to pick up the stitches.

Take a smooth yarn or a yarn with a little bit of hair.

In my work, I used Rasskazovsky angora of beige-pink and white with the addition of an iris thread for the ammonite body and Rasskazovsky angora of jeans color with the addition of Astra Premium sock yarn for the shell.

Try to look for beautiful color combinations - create melanges by collecting several threads together, use sectional dyeing yarn.

The size of the ammonite when using these materials, excluding tentacles, is approximately 9 cm in length and 7 in height, with tentacles - about 17.5 cm in length.

  1. Toy stuffing.

  2. A long needle with a wide eye, into which the knitting thread passes.

  3. Black beads for the eyes. My ammonite has beads about 3.5 mm in size. Fine needle and thread or fishing line (monofilament) for sewing them on.

  4. Use materials for shaping and decor at your discretion. Ammonite can be supplemented with tinting (emphasize the bulge of the eye orbits, draw a shadow from the shell). When tinting a character with a dry pastel, I recommend fixing the tint with an acrylic varnish solution (in a ratio of about 1 to 5-6 with water). Tinting and solution are applied with a brush.

Together with this pattern, you get a separate file with a detailed description of all the abbreviations and techniques that I use in knitting.
