History of the camera
This is the second model from Soviet half-frame scale-focus camera family. It was produced in 1967-72 at S.I.Vavilov Minky mechanical plant (now - Belorussian optical mechanical plant, BelOMO) in Minsk, Belorussia. Frame size is 18x24mm.
The whole family "Chaika" got its name in honour of first woman in space - Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, who flew into space on 16 June 1963. During that flight her call sign was "Chaika" (translated into English as "seagull").
It differs from the first "Chaika" with removable lens and changed body.
Mount is M39x1, but flange focal distance is 27.5 mm (not 28.8 mm). It means that though lens is removable, it cannot be mounted to any other cameras. No other lenses except default "Industar-69" 2.8/28 are known for that camera.
Shutter is cocked with cocking lever. Shutter has speeds: 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, .
Viewfinder is vertical - to make a horizontal frame you must rotate the camera.
Frame counter is zeroed by pulling the backwing barrel at the bottom.
Camera has a synchrocontact "X" for flash.
Totally about 1 250 000 pieces were produced.
