Charoite is a new mineral and jewelry-making stone, the main advantage of which is the bright purple and lilac coloring of different tones and shades. The fine-fibrous parallel- and radially-radiant charoite aggregates with a silver-silky sheen are especially beautiful. The stone was named after the Chara River (the largest tributary of the Olekma River in the Lena River basin in Eastern Siberia) — the place of its discovery.
