""The Lady with the Unicorn" (fr. La Dame à la licorne) is one of the greatest works of medieval European art. This name is given to a series of six tapestries made in Flanders at the end of the XV century. The author of the cartons on which the trellises were woven is unknown. It is believed that this could be the Parisian artist Jean Perreal, or the so-called "Master of Anne of Brittany".

The juxtaposition of colors – a red background that strongly contrasts with the dark blue island, rich floral decor, magnificent outfits of the lady and her maid - all this is very harmonious and filled with inexplicable poetry. Animal images are scattered across the red and blue background. They are common in trellises, but rarely so numerous: unicorn, lion, panther, cheetah, wolf, fox, dog, goat, lamb, rabbit, monkey, heron, falcon, magpie, drake or partridge."
