When I was a little girl, I used to think that scarecrows really eat crows (at night of course, because in daytime it would be not that interesting at all). Seriously, I was that naive.

Some time ago I remembered that conception of mine and asked myself - if it were true, what would happen to the devoured crows? Of course a scarecrow can't eat them literally, so maybe it could just sort of imprison them inside, making them fly eternally in nowhere, in fruitless attempts to escape?.. Sounds a bit too pessimistic, but, in my opinion, it's still better than being truly eaten.
