History reference: The beginning of the "Ready for Labor and Defense" program is considered to be the adoption in 1931 of the RLB program, which consisted of two parts. The first part was called “Be Ready for Labor and Defense of the USSR,” and was aimed at high school students. There were created 4 age levels. The second part - "TRP" was focused not only on schoolchildren over 16 years old, but also on the general population, it covered three levels. With the development of the RLB, the standards of the program also changed, so, three years after the creation of the RLB, the BRLD complex appeared, which was also changed in 1940. Further, changes were made every 5-8 years, until the last physical training complex of the program was approved in 1972. So, by the decree of the Central Committee of the party on January 17, 1972, 5 stages of the RLD were adopted, for each of them its own requirements were created, each stage had its own name. The very first stage - "Brave and Dexterous", covered children 10-13 years old. The second stage - up to 15 years, the third - from 15 to 18, the fourth stage was different for men and women. For the male part of the USSR - 19-28 years old, and 29-39, women - up to 34 years old. The fifth, last stage of the RLD is from 40 to 60 for men and from 35 to 55 for women.
