Item description from the seller
Princess Elisabeth Alexandra Louise Alice of Hesse and by Rhine, later Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna of Russia, was a German Hessian and Rhenish princess of the House of Hesse-Darmstadt.
Following her husband's murder on the 18 February 1905, Elisabeth herself was murdered on the 17 July 1918 by being thrown down a disused mine shaft in Siniachikha, Russia. The Grand Duchess's remains were later recovered and now they are interred in the Church of Maria Magdalene in Jerusalem.
A fabulous, traditional Greek-Orthodox Byzantine icon in canonical iconographic style. Lithography, wood, gold-imprinting.
