This birch kuksa cup (Scandinavian coffee or tea cup) is made of birch wood.
Wooden mug handmade is both practical and decorative — handy to use and attractive sitting on a shelf or table.

This wooden cup handmade is hand-carved in birch wood and treated with food-safe linseed oil to protect the wood.
The wooden coffee mug holds approximately 150 ml of liquids.

Wood does not conduct heat so you can drink fairly hot* liquids from them without burning your fingers or lips.

I carve wooden cups only with hand tools: my axe, bent gouge, and knives.
No electrical tools are used in making these cups.
I make my own finishes from exclusively natural ingredients.
For the kuksas, I apply a compound of linseed oil, beeswax and Carnauba wax.

You can buy this hiking mug for private use or for a unique wooden gift to your friends.

My kuksas make wonderful utensils for daily use and are unique gifts you can give to your friends.
These kuksas are finished and ready to ship.

*Taking Care of your Kuksa

This kuksa is hand-made of natural wood and should be handled differently from your ceramic and glass utensils.
Wood can crack but following a few guidelines will ensure years of enjoyment:

●            Do not pour boiling liquid into your cup. You can use hot liquid but allow boiled liquids to cool a bit before pouring.
●            Do not wash it in the dishwasher.
●            Do not allow your kuksa to sit with liquid in it. When you finish using it, empty your cup and rinse it in clear water.
●            Avoid putting alcohol in your kuksa as it can dry the wood and lead to cracking.
●            After rinsing your cup, dry it with a clean towel.
●            From time to time, you can wipe your kuksa with a cloth and either mineral oil or raw linseed oil. This will keep the wood from drying out and enhance the look of the wood grain.
