Large and Silent «1745» Automaton Moving Gears Wall Clock. 

Our handcrafted wooden wall clock is made of many layers of wood, mdf and acrylic glass? woodstained and painted high quality paint. The front elements of the clock are decorated with detailed and intricate engraving. 
Every detail in this model is hand-decorated turning it into an art object on your wall.

While making the design of a new clock we were inspired not only by old mechanical wrist watches which gear motors seem to us real works of art but mechanical toys which were quite popular among the rich in XVIII in France. These toys were called automatons and were self-operating machines, or machines designed to follow automatically a predetermined sequence of operations, or respond to predetermined instructions. Some automata, such as bellstrikers in mechanical clocks, are designed to give the illusion to the casual observer that they are operating under their own power.

The hands motion is complemented by the movement of 5 gears each of which is an AA battery operated. We use silent mechanisms, so they can be used even in the bedroom. The mirror on the background adds some volume to the clock and amplifies the movement effect, transforming the clock into a kinetic installation.
