Prague Automaton Orloj Astronomical Moving Gears Wall Clock Wizard Tower Clock.

Our handcrafted wooden wall clock is made of many layers of wood, woodstained and painted high quality acrylic paint. The front elements of the clock are decorated with detailed and intricate engraving.
Every detail in this model is hand-decorated turning it into an art object on your wall.

The hands motion is complemented by the movement of 3 gears each of which is an AA battery operated. We use silent mechanisms, so they can be used even in the bedroom. The mirror on the background adds some volume to the clock and amplifies the movement effect, transforming the clock into a kinetic installation.

While making the design of a new clock we were inspired by Prague Orloj, which is a medieval astronomical clock located in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic. The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest clock still operating. The Orloj is mounted on the southern wall of Old Town Hall in the Old Town Square. The clock mechanism itself has three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; statues of various Catholic Saints stand on either side of the clock; "The Walk of the Apostles", a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures—notably a figure of Death (represented by a skeleton) striking the time; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months. According to local legend, the city will suffer if the clock is neglected and its good operation is placed in jeopardy; a ghost, mounted on the clock, was supposed to nod its head in confirmation. According to the legend, the only hope was represented by a boy born on New Year's night.
Similar clocks were also the inspiration for the clock in the Wizard Tower in the famous movie series about "The Boy Who Lived".
