Pharmacotherapeutic group: digestive enzyme agent

Indications:
Violations of the enzymatic (exocrine) function of the pancreas in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract accompanied by digestive disorders.
To improve food digestion in patients with normal gastrointestinal function with dietary errors.

Contraindications:
hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
acute pancreatitis or exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis. However, it is possible to use it in the phase of a fading exacerbation when expanding the diet, if there are signs of digestive disorders;
children up to 3 years of age (for this dosage form).

How to take, course of administration and dosage
The dose of Mezim® forte is determined individually depending on the degree of digestive disturbance.

Adults: 1 - 2 tablets orally before meals, without chewing and with water (the effectiveness of Mezim® forte may decrease when chewed, and pancreatic enzymes, when released, may irritate the oral mucosa).

If necessary, take another 2-4 tablets with meals.

In cases where higher doses of pancreatin are required, a doctor's consultation is necessary to prescribe a higher dosage depending on the symptoms (for example, reducing the severity of steatorrhea, abdominal pain).

The duration of treatment can vary from several days (in case of indigestion due to an error in diet) to several months and even years (if constant replacement therapy is necessary).

In children, the drug is used as prescribed by a doctor.
