Dong Zhi (Winter Solstice), literally means “winter extreme.” It is the earliest officially recognized solar term in China, indicating “the Yin energy reaches its climax.” Back in the old days, the Chinese counted days in groups of nine beginning with Dong Zhi. They believed there were nine sets of nine days (i.e. eighty-one days) before spring came.
This is the coldest time of the year, after which peach flowers bloom, which marks the arrival of warmth.
You can color the “Nine-Nine Eliminate Cold Picture” Jiu Jiu Xiao Han Tu. The artistic form of Jiu Jiu Xiao Han Tu is a painting of a plum tree with nine blossoms- each has nine uncolored petals or a diagram with 81 elements. But you can choose a less sketchy option, like mine *^__^*
Each day you are supposed to paint over one element. When all the petals are painted over, the warm season will come ^_^
Here, of course, the peach is not yet blooming in mid-March :)))) But for the next few months this blossoming meihua branch will please me ^_^
