The ring is made from a Dutch coin from the reign of Queen Juliana. From 1954 to 1967 these 1 gulden coins were minted in silver. Along the edge of the ring is the inscription God met ons - "God is with us." This motto appeared on Dutch coins as part of the phrase: "If God is with us, who will be against us?" (Romans 8:31).
