Vastu Purusha is one of the main, if not the most important, concept in ancient Indian architecture. This deity of houses, temples, even entire villages and cities, who penetrates everywhere and permeates everything, is the embodiment of harmony throughout the world and whose prototype is man.

Vastu Purusha is usually depicted lying head down and this is not accidental. According to one legend, he was born by Brahma himself at the creation of the world, according to another, he appeared from a drop of Shiva's sweat during his duel with the demon Andhaka. The ending of both myths is similar. Hungry, Vastu Purusha began to devour everything around. The gods, led by Brahma, managed to grab him and put him face down on the ground. Those deities who came in contact with the parts of Vastu Purusha's body began to control them. Brahma appointed him the deity of space, and Vastu Purusha promised to take care of all the inhabitants of the dwellings. Since then, every house has been ruled by Vastu Purusha, who, if not properly propitiated, will bring sorrow and all kinds of calamities to the house and those living in it.

Vastu Purusha Yantra is placed on the central wall of the house (preferably on the east). 
It is desirable that there is no open space on the wall where it is located. 
In modern conditions, this yantra is hung on the main wall in a house where there are no windows and doors.
